education and outreach

Music education is incredibly important to me. Many of the most powerful and life affirming moments that I've experienced have been thanks to the teachers and mentors who I have had the privilege to work with during my student years and well beyond. Paying forward that inspiration and knowledge to young people is central to my mission as an artist, and I am proud to have had the opportunity to lead and support educational institutions throughout my career.

a walk down memory lane

Since 2022, I have served as Director of Orchestras at Ball State University School of Music, where I conduct the flagship orchestral ensembles and direct the graduate orchestral conducting program. Recent academic guest appearances include Yale School of Music, New York University, and The New School. Career guidance and mentorship is central to my approach; graduates of my studio have gone on to prestigious positions across the industry such as tenure-track academic appointments and directorships of professional and youth orchestras.

In addition to my work in higher education, I have extensive experience working with youth orchestras and secondary ensembles across the country. From 2019 to 2022, I led the orchestral programs at Idyllwild Arts Academy and Summer Festival, and regularly lead and guest conduct large regional youth orchestras such as the Norwalk Youth Symphony, Young Artists Philharmonic, and Indianapolis Youth Symphony.

I regularly serve as a clinician for all-state and regional high school festivals, recently appearing as featured guest conductor of the 2024 New York City Honors Orchestra Festival and as a guest clinician across east central Indiana.
