Growing up playing the upright and electric bass fueled a love for jazz, rock, funk—you name it. As conventions and dogmas regarding what is "appropriate" for the orchestral concert stage continue to fade away, it's a thrill to be a small part of this new wave of genre-bending, innovative performers.

jazz orchestra

Since 2019, I've been the principal conductor of Assembly of Shadows, an innovative and critically-acclaimed jazz orchestra foudned and led by composer and saxophonist Remy Le Boeuf. In 2023, the sophomore album Architecture of Storms was nomiated for a Grammy award in the category of Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album. I regularly lead the ensemble for performances in New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Denver.

video game, pops, and more

As an orchestral conductor, it's not every day that the audience erupts into applause mid-performance, before the music stops. But that's commonplace when performing programs of video game music or alongside a rockstar at a major convention or festival. Some highlights include sold-out performances alongside John Cale (of Velvet Underground fame) at Brooklyn Academy of Music that garnered rave reviews in the New York Times and Rolling Stone, as well as a performance at the 2018 edition of Anime Boston leading the Video Game Orchestra. In the world of film & TV, I was the "conducting coach" for Mozart in the Jungle, helping the all-star cast with the authenticity of their conducting gestures. As a recording artist, I have numerous album credits as a conductor, and frequently lead film scoring sessions.
